Tit for tat move by liquor traders, go dry in protest

After the stringent rules regarding sale of liquor in all restaurants etc after 11pm and after 10 pm and the even more stringent rules for liquor traders, the latter have gone into a major sulk. They accused the Excise Department of harassing them and in protest are going to go on strike on Republic Day. They will maintain the shut-down until after the elections.

It could also have been their knee jerk reaction to the seizure of Rs 1 .5 lakh worth of liquor at Thivim and Benaulim.
