Mario gets the Padma Vibhushan posthumously

The Padma awards time of year swings round one more time. President Pratibha Patil has approved 109 awards. Goa's Mario Miranda recently deceased, will be awarded one of five Padma Vibhushan awards. Among the five persons selected for the Padma Vibhushan award are late cartoonist Mario Miranda and legendary musician Dr Bhupen Hazarika for their contribution to the field of art.

The Padma Vibhushan award in the field of Art, to Mario will be given porsthumously.
