Congress manifesto ready for circulation, land reforms promised 2012-01-24Ramakant Khalap is the Convener of the Manifesto Committee of the Congress. He informed the media that the Congress which works unflaggingly in the interests of the State of Goa will bring in a legislation that will ban non-Goans and non-resident farmers from buying agriculural land in the state. A decision he said was taken to preserve land for future generations. Farmers will have to be continuous residents for 25 years to qualify for buying agricultural land in Goa.
The law would be in keeping with the tenets of the Indian Constitution. Those farmers who keep their land fallow would be penalized.
The Congress manifesto for March 3, which was prepared by Eduardo Faleiro is complete and ready for circulation he said.
His party would not allow illegal mining under any circumstances in Goa. Preventive action would be taken.
The Regional Plan would not be scrapped he said, but anomalies would be addressed.
Khalap assures the citizens of a good and transparent government.
