Sesa Goa to acquire stake in Liberian iron ore mining company

2011-08-10

Sesa Goa plans to acquire stake in Western Cluster (WCL), a Liberia based iron ore mining company.

The company is likely to acquire 51 per cent stake in WCL in an all-cash deal of $90 million (approx Rs 400 crore). However, the acquisition is subject to clearance by the West Africa Government.

WCL will develop the Western Cluster iron ore mining project, which covers mining of deposits and setting up transportation and shipping infrastructure for its export. Western Cluster's estimated reserve is a little over a billion tonne of ore.
