Politicians should get out of sports says Savio Messias 2010-09-04The kid gloves are off. Joaquim Alemao and Shivanand Salgoncar flanked Shrinivas Dempo, and spoke glowingly of him. Then Alemao spoke of how they did not want the Goa football Assocition "to fall into the wrong hands". This nugget was picked up and Savio Messias made no bones of condeming the statement as childish.
Messias explained how he entered the fray to stand for elections since various clubs beseeched him to enter the fray for the post of President Goa Football Association. He condemned Joaquim Alemao's statement saying it was a childish thing to say.
He added that politicians should stay out of sports and cited examples like the Commonwealth Games and the corruption and scandal surrounding it bringing a bad name to the country.. |
