Goa Police are good at recycling and turning a tidy profit

We the people of Goa, Joaquim Alemao and Patricia Pinto have got it all wrong. The best people to run the waste management scene in Goa have to be the Goa police. See how diligent they are about not letting anything go waste. There was all that counterfeit money lying around doing nothing, just gathering dust and maybe attracting termites. And we know that those termites are special, they went through vast amounts of narcotics according to the police. Where else could the PSI with an entrepreneurial bent of mind, have laid his hands on so much counterfeit cash? They say he was bankrolling punters to gamble at the casinos. It’s a straightforward profit. Give worthless paper in exchange for chips and then change the chips back into real money. If that isn’t raising recycling of paper to an art form, then I don’t know what is.

See how well they worked the narcotics recycling. 80 kilos of confiscated narcotics were removed from the storage unit they were kept in and supposedly recycled to drug dealers for a fee. Goa police personnel must have made a huge profit on this. And their cost price was zero. It’s all profit, until they get caught.

They allow undertrials and convicts to escape from right under their noses, these are waste humans that they are recycling. The convicts run away, commit some more crimes before they turn themselves in. This is like turning garbage over, it can move here and there, but it always stays in the composting station, until it can be of some use.

GSPCB quick to wash its hands off enforcing closure of 35 mines in Goa

It’s a good joke. The Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) will be sending 35 notices to 35 mines that are in violation of environmental and pollution laws in Goa. GSPCB has already stated that yes, they will be sending out the notices this week. And then the Chairman actually announced clearly, that the GSPCB has no staff to see whether the 35 mines will actually shut down operations or not. If the High Court had not insisted on closure the GSPCB would have sat tight and looked the other way in its usual fashion. Mine owners should not be laughing prematurely however because once again, it will be up to the anti-mining activists to do the job the government has been hired to do and see that the mines closure is enforced.

Lorna in London

It would be interesting to know if you and I paid our tax rupees to cover Lorna’s air fare, hotel stay and fee for singing which one hears is pretty stiff. If she flew on her own money and sang free for the Global Goan Convention in London, we would be very happy. If a politician paid for her out of his own pocket, we would be unhappy because that is our money he has already embezzled. If the wealthy NRGs picked up the tab, hey fantastic! But knowing how these things work, it has to be the tax payer’s pocket which is dipped into by the big spenders.

PWD uses private taxis instead of dept cars

One hopes this is a rumour but the PWD pays one hears, Rs 10,000 a day to around 10 taxi drivers all protégés of Churchill Alemao, whether their services are used or not.
